Cookies & tracking

We do not use advertising cookies, ad networks, cross-site advertising profiles or third-party marketing trackers on this site.

What we do use is limited to: technologies that are strictly necessary to serve the site, first-party usage analytics that carry no personal identifiers, and — only when you choose to click through to a retailer — that retailer's own cookies, set by them on their own site.

These are needed for the site to work and to be served securely, and cannot be switched off from within the site:

• request handling, routing and security processing by our hosting and infrastructure providers;
• a local-storage value holding your analytics preference, so we can honour it;
• where you sign in to the internal administration area, a session token used only for that purpose — public visitors never need an account.

We record how the site is used so we can improve search, comparisons and content. Events include searches and search intent, zero-result searches, filter interactions, product views, comparisons started and completed, and retailer or affiliate link clicks, together with the page they came from.

To distinguish one visit's events from another's, we store a randomly generated session identifier in your browser's local storage. It is not linked to your name, email or any account, we do not use it to build an advertising profile, and no third-party analytics provider is connected to this site.

You can switch usage analytics off below or at any time.

When you click a “Where to buy” link, we log the click on our side — the product, retailer, whether the link was an affiliate link, the page and any search or intent behind it — with no personal identifiers. We need this to understand demand and to reconcile affiliate reporting.

The retailer or affiliate network may then set their own cookies or identifiers on their own website to attribute a qualifying purchase. That processing is governed by their cookie and privacy policies, not ours, and we do not receive your payment details or order contents.

You can also block or delete local storage and cookies in your browser settings, browse in a private window, or use tracking-protection features. Clearing site data removes both our session identifier and your saved analytics preference.

Blocking strictly necessary technologies may stop parts of the site working as intended.

Requirements for cookies and similar technologies differ by country. Where applicable law requires consent for non-essential technologies, the control on this page is provided so that you can decline usage analytics, and we keep non-essential technologies to a minimum.
