Privacy Policy
Version 1.1Last updated: 16 August 2026
We read the labels so you don't have to — and we try to be equally plain about data. You can use Electrolyte Nerd without an account, and we don't want personal information we don't need.
This policy is written for an international audience. It applies to the extent applicable law requires, and where applicable, the rights and obligations described may differ depending on your jurisdiction.
Who operates Electrolyte Nerd
Electrolyte Nerd (“Electrolyte Nerd”, “we”, “us”) operates the website at electrolytenerd.com. We are an independent research and comparison publisher. We do not manufacture, sell or fulfil electrolyte products.
This policy explains how information is handled when you use the website. Electrolyte Nerd is designed to provide transparent information and privacy controls consistent with applicable laws. Privacy rights and obligations may vary depending on jurisdiction, and this policy should be read as applying to the extent applicable law requires.
For privacy questions or requests, contact nerdlyte@yahoo.com.
Information we may collect
You do not need an account to search, browse or compare products. We do not ask for your name, address or payment details to use the site.
The categories below reflect what the website actually handles today:
- Usage and interaction events. Search queries, pages viewed, products viewed, filters used, comparisons started and completed, and clicks on retailer or affiliate links.
- A random session identifier. Stored in your browser's local storage so that related events can be grouped. It is not linked to your identity and contains no personal details.
- Technical information. Requests to our hosting and database infrastructure necessarily involve information such as your IP address, approximate region, device and browser characteristics, and request timestamps. This is used to deliver, secure and debug the service.
- Information you choose to send us. If you email us — for example a data correction, a partnership enquiry or a privacy request — we receive whatever you include in that message.
- Staff account information. Our editorial team signs in to maintain verified product data. Those accounts exist purely for data stewardship and are covered by an audit log.
If we introduce public accounts, contact forms, newsletters or payments in future, this policy will be updated before those features collect information.
How we use information
Search queries and product interactions are used to:
- improve how search interprets what people are looking for;
- improve the relevance of results and comparisons;
- decide which products and which data fields to verify or expand next;
- understand demand in aggregate and measure how the site is used;
- monitor and improve site performance, security and stability.
We do not use this information to build profiles of identifiable individuals, and we do not run advertising trackers.
Legal bases and purposes
Where the GDPR, UK GDPR or a comparable law applies, we rely on the following grounds, each only where appropriate:
- Legitimate interests — operating, securing, measuring and improving an independent comparison website, including aggregate analytics and affiliate attribution.
- Contract or requested service — providing the pages, search results and comparisons you ask for, and administering staff accounts.
- Consent — where applicable law requires consent for a specific technology or purpose, or where you voluntarily send us information.
- Legal obligations — where we must retain or disclose information to comply with a legal requirement.
Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect processing already carried out lawfully.
Service providers and third parties
Information may be processed by service providers that are necessary to operate the website. The categories we rely on, or may rely on, are:
- website hosting and content delivery;
- managed database and backend infrastructure;
- analytics and error monitoring;
- security, abuse prevention and logging;
- email and contact handling;
- affiliate networks and retailers you choose to visit;
- payment providers, only if payments are introduced later.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We may disclose information where required by law, to protect our rights, or in connection with a business transfer, in each case subject to applicable law.
Affiliate and outbound link tracking
Some retailer links are affiliate links. When you click a retailer or affiliate link, we record the click — the product, the retailer, whether the link was an affiliate link, the page it came from, and the search query or intent that led to it — so we can understand which comparisons are useful. We do not attach personal identifiers to that record.
The retailer or affiliate network may separately use cookies or similar technologies to attribute a qualifying purchase to Electrolyte Nerd. Once you leave our site, that processing is governed by the retailer's or network's own privacy policy.
Electrolyte Nerd does not receive your payment card details or order contents when you buy from an external retailer. Affiliate reporting we receive is commission-level and does not identify you. See our affiliate disclosure.
International data transfers
Electrolyte Nerd is intended to be accessible internationally. Our service providers may store or process information in countries other than the one you are in, including countries whose data protection laws differ from your own.
Where applicable law requires safeguards for such transfers, appropriate safeguards will be used. You may ask us for information about the safeguards relevant to a transfer by contacting nerdlyte@yahoo.com.
Data retention
We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy — principally improving search, the database and site performance — and for as long as required to meet legal obligations or resolve disputes. Usage and click events are retained in aggregate-oriented form and reviewed periodically; where information is no longer needed it is deleted or de-identified. We have not fixed a single retention period for every category, and we will publish specific periods here if and when they are defined.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights. Rights vary by jurisdiction, and some apply only in defined circumstances:
- access to information we hold about you;
- correction of inaccurate information;
- deletion of information;
- restriction of certain processing;
- objection to certain processing, including on legitimate interests grounds;
- data portability;
- withdrawal of consent where processing is based on consent;
- opting out of certain processing where applicable law provides that right;
- complaining to a competent data protection or privacy authority in your jurisdiction.
To make a request, email nerdlyte@yahoo.com. Because we do not collect account details or identifiers from ordinary visitors, we may be unable to link anonymous usage events to you; in that case we will explain what we can and cannot do.
California & US privacy rights
Where US state privacy laws apply, you may have rights to know about and access personal information collected about you, to request deletion, to request correction, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights.
Electrolyte Nerd does not sell personal information, and does not share personal information for targeted or cross-context behavioural advertising. Because we do not carry out those activities, there is currently nothing to opt out of. We do not seek to collect sensitive personal information, and we do not use it for purposes that would require a separate limitation right.
If we ever introduce processing that triggers an opt-out right, a “Your Privacy Choices” control will be published on this page and linked from the site footer, and this section will be updated before that processing begins.
EU / EEA / UK and other GDPR-style jurisdictions
If you are in the EU, EEA, UK or another jurisdiction with GDPR-style protections, the rights described above may apply directly to you, along with the legal bases set out in this policy.
We have not appointed a Data Protection Officer, and applicable law does not currently require us to. Privacy requests are handled directly by the Electrolyte Nerd team at nerdlyte@yahoo.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
Children
Electrolyte Nerd is a product-research site intended for a general adult audience. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are not permitted to use a service like this under the law of your country, please do not send us personal information. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact nerdlyte@yahoo.com and we will delete it where required.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures appropriate to the nature of the information we hold — including access controls on our database, restricted staff accounts with audit logging, encrypted connections, and server-side validation of the events we record. No website or transmission method can be guaranteed to be completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy as the website develops. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page shows when the current version was published, and material changes will be reflected here.
Privacy enquiries: nerdlyte@yahoo.com. Other enquiries are listed on our contact page.
This policy describes our current practices for an early-stage product. It is not a claim of compliance with the law of every country.
